The non-stop DGT-Run is an extreme test of athletes’ endurance, self-sufficiency and ability to withstand continuous high altitude exposure in truly remote mountainous terrain.

Route
The Drakensberg Grand Traverse.
Start at the Sentinel Car Park, Free State, South Africa. Head straight up the mountain to Lesotho and find your own way south across the mountain tops, predominantly off trail, to Bushman’s Nek Border Post. Recommended route is 210km, tagging 6 compulsory peaks.
Format
DGT-Run is a non-stop, point to point, Pairs Race.
Each team must stick together for the entire race and be self-sufficient in terms of nutrition and emergency gear. The exact route is not mandated but 6 checkpoints (peaks) are compulsory.
First team over the line, having met all requirements, wins.
Qualify
Apply to enter with proof of experience in mountain exploits or endurance events involving GPS or map navigation and through-the-night activity.
Only 50 teams accepted.
Safety
Each athlete carries a gps unit with two-way communication ability.
6 refuge camps are set up, and 1 full aid station.
Medics, staff and volunteers are stationed on the mountain.
