Qualifying

Running and Mountain Experience

There is no other event quite like the DGT-Run so there is no set list of qualifying races. Your average 100 miler has many aid stations whereas DGT-Run’s first and only aid station is AFTER 100 miles! DGT-Run is self-navigated and mostly off-trail. We cannot emphasize enough the need for pairs to be self-sufficient and prepared for any situation that may arise in these remote mountains.

Due to the extreme conditions and challenging nature of the DGT-Run, entry is conditional.

Applications will be personally evaluated by the Race Directors and take into consideration a team’s combined experience in endurance events, long distance trail running, adventure races and proven personal mountain missions or thru-hikes.

In addition, proficiency in navigation is essential. GPS units and a compass (and the ability to use both) are compulsory.

There is an early cut-off just after Cleft Peak (27hr30min) in place to allow an escape route for those adversely affected by altitude. The second cut-off is at 118km (57hr) and the final one at 160km (78hr). Between cut-off checkpoints it is quite possible that a team will not encounter any event officials despite there being several safety teams in the area. It is important to understand that members of a team are co-dependent. ie Choose wisely.
